Collection of photo negatives of photographer Krišs Rake

Portrait of philisopher, professor of Latvian University Pauls Dāle (1889-1968) with his family in front of their house in Mežaparks, Riga, taken by Krišs Rake in 1936. P. Dāle was a disciple of E. Husserl, the most prominent philosopher in the interwar Latvia, founder of the Institute of Psychology of the Latvian University in 1938. Due to his philosophic and religious thoughts P. Dāle was fired from the Latvian State University in 1948 and deprived from possibility to do academic research. Although 5 years later he was allowed to work at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Latvian SSR Academy of Sciences and later also earned living by translations from Russian. The last years of his life were spent in poverty and isolation. VRVM 144.245
