Noor-Tartu (Young-Tartu) was a non-institutional student movement in Tartu between 1979 and 1984 (from 1979-1981 it was called Kodulinn, or Hometown). It was formed mostly by history students who wanted to do something useful for their city, without being connected to any official institution. Arranging urban space, collecting antiquities and organising cultural events were the main activities of the movement. Various pieces of material (announcements, newspapers, overviews, photographs) about these activities have been preserved. Today, this material forms an unofficial private collection owned by the core group of the Noor-Tartu movement.

Zbigniew Libera is one of the most renown Polish visual artists. He is considered to be the key figure of the Polish „critical art” of the 1990s and a pioneer of video art, which he had created since the early 1980s. Libera’s archive comprises materials from his childhood and youth (until 1991). These include notes, drawings, documents, photographs and video recordings, as well as his early edited works from the time when he participated in the Pitch-in Culture artistic milieu in Łódź.

Łódź Kaliska is an art group which has been continuously active since 1979. It is notorious for being involved in numerous scandals and provocations. The majority of its members did not have any artistic education, which was a defiance against the professionalised world of contemporary art of late socialism. In the 1980s the members of the group participated in the underground net of radical artists Pitch-In Culture and, for a long time, avoided the official art circles. The Łódź Kaliska Archive contains documentation of the group’s activities, most important works, information on exhibitions, artists’ bios, and critiques.
